The Inaugural BMFA Free Flight Gala, The National Centre Buckminster

The Free Flight Technical Committee (FFTC) has arranged the first of what is hoped to develop into a regular series of mini free flight winter events. The contest at the National Centre will be a celebration of the mini classes, closely managed on the day by the FFTC team to reflect the conditions on the day and to create an ambience and fun event to warm us on what could be a cool day.

All are welcome to attend and join in and fly mini free flight models for fun, compete or just to visit as a spectator. The Gala will commence at 9.00am and end 3.30pm with the gates open at 8.00am with a briefing scheduled for 8-30 to discuss the day’s proceedings. Charges are the standard National Centre fee of £6 to cover the site and a contest fee of £5 to enter any number of events (excluded if season ticket holder).

The National Centre has facilities to brew your own Tea or Coffee and clean toilet facilities for madam and monsieur.

The Mini classes as they are affectionately known are models which are seeking a maximum duration of 2 minutes and consist of:

The Coupe d’hiver (F1G), P30 class and mini vintage rubber classes

The extremely fashionable electric powered E36 class (36” span)

The A1 towline glider Class (F1H) and for those with long arms or short strands of rubber the ever popular combined Hand Launched Glider (HLG) and Catapult Launched Glider event.

and finally

The IC Engine BMFA 1/2A Power and International class F1J

Come and Fly with us and let’s make the day a success.
